Tulumbe
Ingredients
Dough
- 400 g all purpose flour
- 400 ml water
- 150 ml oil
- 5 eggs
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- oil to deep-fry
Agda/Syrup
- 1 l water
- 600 g sugar
- 1/2 lemon
How to
Cook the water, oil, sugar and salt. The sugar has to melt completely. Turn off the stove and add the flour and stir until it thickens. Remove from stove and let cool. When completely cooled of add one egg at time and stir till the egg is blended into the dough.
Bring the oil to deep-fry to a boil and then reduce the heat to low-medium heat. Put the dough in a piping syrenge and pipe into the oil. Cut with scissors the length you want. Fry a couple of munites, the tulumbe should be golden.
Now to the agda/syrup. Put all the ingreditents into a pot and let boil til the sugar is melted. The agda is finished when the mixture glides of a spoon. Let the agda cool off.
Take the warm tulumbe and put in the cold agda for a couple of minutes, then take them out and place on a serving dish of choice.
Info: Tulumbe need to be a bit hard on the outside and hollow inside.
